What determines your weight…

Calories are how we measure one basic unit of energy which is found in all foods that we eat and are necessary to maintain the vital functions of the body as well as the metabolic rate. We don’t all need the same number of calories per day, our age, gender, activity levels and muscle mass dictate our ideal calorie intake. It is equally as essential that we don’t consume too few calories, as too many. When we don’t burn the calories, they turn to fat which is stored for when it is needed.

Calories consumed and calories burned are the key to weight loss regardless of what weight you are. If we consume calories and don’t burn calories, we will put weight on, and keep on doing so. It is important therefore, that you know how many calories you are consuming and how to consume less and still eat enough. It is equally important that you know how to burn the calories, how many you’re burning now, and how to increase that so that you are able to burn more calories than you are eating and therefore, lose weight.

It is common these days to buy fast food or convenience foods and let’s face it, they do make our busy life easier, but these are foods that hike up your calorie intake to where one meal uses up your calorie intake for the entire day! For example for one meal from McDonald’s check this out:

                                                                        Calories Fat Sodium
Fast-food big-burger 563 33g 1.01g
A medium-sized french-fries 384 20g
A medium-sized vanilla shake 733 21g
Total 1,680 74g

More than the recommended daily calorie intake (2079 for a woman and 2605 for a man according to governmental guidlines for the UK), in one meal! Way more than the recommended levels of fat, and half of the recommended sodium intake for the entire day in just one item! Whereas, for the same amount of calories or less, you could have:

Breakfast: 220 calories

1 large scrambled egg 102
1 slice toast 66
Butter (teaspoon) 50
Black coffee 2

Lunch: 345 calories

Cheddar Cheese (1 slice) 113
2 slices of bread 132
Butter (teaspoon) 50
Cucumber 0 (negative calories)
Lettuce 0 (negative calories)

Dinner: 370 calories

3oz a roasted chicken breast 142
Medium-sized baked white potato 161
Half a cup of green peas 67
Cauliflower 0 (negative calories)
Carrots 0 (negative calories)

If you like to snack during the day too then the following foods have egative calories (negative calories means that they burn more calories in digestion than they contain) so you can actually eat as much as you like.

Snacks: (all negative calories) eat as much as you like!

Oranges
Strawberries
Tangerines
Grapefruit
Apricots
Tomatoes
Watermelon
Apples
Celery
Lettuce
Cucumber
Cauliflower
Carrots
Zucchini (courgette)
Hot Chili Peppers

DO NOT limit your diet to the negative calorie foods as you would suffer from malnutrition. It is imperative that your diet is healthy and covers all of the nutrition that you need.

The above example of ‘a day in the life ‘ gives you 885 calories, leaving room for extras you may need such as milk in your tea or cereal etc. Or a treat if you wish to have it, such as perhaps 4 ounces of vanilla ice cream for 145 calories and 5 ounces of red wine for 123 calories, or a jelly doughnut for 289 calories! You decide!

The point is that you can have a healthy diet that does not leave you hungry, and still keep within your ideal calorie quota for the day. With all of the negative calorie foods to snack on, you need not go hungry at all! You can be in control by working out your menu for the week and sticking to it. Be sure that you have lots of fruits – perhaps fruit salads – as snacks, and lots of the negative veg with dinner/lunch. Don’t plan in a naughty but nice (can work against you by kicking off a craving) but if you find that you have some spare calories, and you really have to have it, go for it.

You will also find your fat intake drops considerably. But just to help you along, here is the recommended fat intake per day against calories.

Calories saturated fat grams total fat in grams

1,600 18 or less 53
2,000 20 or less 65
2,200 24 or less 73
2,500 25 or less 80
2,800 31 or less 93

These figures are based on a 2,000 calorie diet.

But what about the cravings…help!

Our body converts digestible carbohydrates into blood sugar (glucose), or our main source of energy. Our blood sugar level will affect how hungry and how energetic we feel. Both are important factors.

We create a cycle of craving in the body when we eat refined foods such as grains (cereals) that not only have had most of their fibre stripped away but also have had sugar added, or other carbohydrate-rich foods; they are quickly processed in to blood sugar. This creates a problem for our pancreas which has to work much faster to produce the insulin needed to transport the blood sugar to the cells for use as energy. The result of this is an insulin surge which tells our body there is plenty of energy available hence the body begins to store the fat instead of using it as the source of energy. The bigger problem here is that the insulin surge causes too much blood sugar to be transported to our cells and so results in our blood sugar and insulin levels falling below normal – and that is when we feel tired and hungry and want to eat more; more foods with high sugar content which when we consume, starts this cycle all over again. As you can see, the more this cycle continues the more fat the body is storing. It believes it does not need to convert the fat into energy as it would normally were we to eat a healthy, nutritious diet.

So, how could we break the cycle?

Chromium picolinate is an essential mineral that plays a role in how insulin helps the body regulate blood sugar levels and when your levels are as they should be, your body is not telling you it has eat more and more and more….

Good chromium food sources include whole grain breads and cereals, lean meats, cheeses, and some spices, such as black pepper and thyme. You can also support your diet with chromium supplements especially if you are intolerant to wheat and dairy…you may also find that due to previous eating habits, you are deficient in chromium. You may want to supplement your diet with a good multivitamin and mineral formula as well as your calcium and magnesium supplement with a good, high absorbency formula. Vitamin B complex formula could also be useful.

I you are not a person who eats breakfast, then try G&G’s Organic EssentialFood with only 69 calories per 20g scoop, it is packed full of great nutrition to get you off to a good start for the day, just add it to your juice or smoothie!

Now that you have dropped your calorie intake to the ideal levels and have your cravings under control, exercise can come in to the play and that is the subject of our next blog; which exercises burn how many calories and will include housework, walking the dog and all the things you do that you don’t really thing about – they all count!

Taking antibiotics ruptured my tendon:

Daily Mail article by Jo Waters

‘The pain was so sharp I felt like I’d been shot or kicked,’ said Judy Thomas

When Judy Thomas was prescribed a strong antibiotic to shift her chest infection, she didn’t think twice about it.

‘It was a few days before Christmas and I was just relieved to get something before the holidays,’ says Judy, 59, a housewife from Ferndown, Dorset.

‘It was a high dose of 500mg of ciprofloxacin twice a day for five days. My GP didn’t mention any possible side-effects.’

Three days later, Judy woke up with an all-pervading tight feeling in the backs of both calves.

‘I could barely walk; I thought the tendon was going to snap,’ she recalls.

‘Ten days later, when I was standing making tea in the kitchen, something did seem to snap in the back of my left calf.

‘The pain was so sharp I felt like I’d been shot or kicked, and I blacked out for a few seconds. Afterwards, I was in excruciating pain.’

Next day, she went to A&E with her husband, Geoff, 64, and her left leg was put in plaster because doctors suspected a ruptured Achilles tendon.

‘I was baffled because I hadn’t been doing any exercise and it’s something I thought you only got with running or sport,’ says Judy.

‘It was my sister Sally, a retired nurse, who Googled it later that evening and discovered tendon rupture can be a side-effect of taking ciprofloxacin.

‘Imagine my horror when this was confirmed by my GP the next day.’

It can take six months on average to get back to normal activities after an Achilles tendon rupture, but in some cases much longer. A month after taking ciprofloxacin Judy is still incapacitated.

‘I’ve been left unable to walk properly,’ she says. ‘I can’t bear weight on it and have been confined to the house.

‘Now I’m terrified the tendon in my right leg will rupture, too, as the doctor I saw in A&E said it was showing signs of severe damage.

‘I’ve got pins and needles in my left arm and shoulder, too, which started at the same time. I’m worried this is also connected to the antibiotics, and might be permanent.’

One in six of all prescriptions in the UK is for antibiotics, with the drugs given for everything from ear infections to sore throats.

But what many patients don’t realise is that like all drugs, antibiotics can cause side-effects.

Amoxicillin, the most commonly prescribed antibiotic in the UK, can cause rashes and diarrhoea, but also nausea, wheezing, itching and a swollen tongue.

One in six of all prescriptions in the UK are for antibiotics, with the drugs given for everything from ear infections to sore throats

Another antibiotic, flucloxacillin, can cause diarrhoea and nausea, and in rarer cases breathing difficulties, jaundice, bruising and abdominal pain.

And erythromycin, used to treat middle ear and throat infections, cannot only cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea and a rash, but less commonly temporary deafness, skin blisters, jaundice and fever.

‘There’s been a perception that antibiotics are a bit like vitamins in that it won’t do the patient any harm to take them, even if it’s not absolutely certain they do have an infection,’ says Dr Kieran Hand, consultant pharmacist at Southampton General Hospital and a spokesman for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

‘We are realising antibiotics are not completely harmless, and prescribing them is not a decision to be taken lightly.’

This is particularly true for a class of powerful broad spectrum antibiotics called fluoroquinolones, which include ciprofloxacin (the drug Judy was prescribed), levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, ofloxacin and norfloxacin.

Just under a million prescriptions for these drugs were given out in the UK in 2010 for conditions such as chest infections and urinary tract and gastro-intestinal infections.

Some of the alarming side-effects listed for fluoroquinolines include inflamed or ruptured tendon, chest pain, rapid heart beat, black outs, swelling, hot flushes, sweating, pancreatitis (inflamed pancreas) and tinnitus.

It’s only the fluoroquinolone group of antibiotics that have been linked with tendon problems and other muscolo-skeletal issues.

These may start immediately after taking the drugs, or months later.

As a result, doctors and patients often fail to make the link with the antibiotics.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, the UK’s drug safety watchdog, received reports of 2,269 ‘suspected’ adverse reactions associated with fluoroquinolone antibiotics, including 67 deaths, since January 2000.

Four years ago, concern about the potential side-effects led to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration telling manufacturers to add a ‘black box’ warning to fluoroquinolones.

This is the most serious warning, short of pulling a drug from the market, and indicates that it carries a significant risk of serious or life-threatening adverse events.

In the UK, the British National Formulary, a prescribing guide for doctors and pharmacists, added a specific warning about fluoroquinolones in 2009, stating they should be used ‘with caution’ in patients over 60, those taking corticosteroids, and patients with a history of epilepsy or tendon disorders.

But Judy says she had none of these risk factors.

Neither did Rebecca Robinson a 44-year-old self-employed hairdresser from Bristol, who was prescribed five courses of ciprofloxacin over a 12-month period after developing cystitis and then a kidney infection in 2006.

Five years later, she is still suffering persistent lower leg pain and other unexplained symptoms, including pain and burning in her lower legs, cervical dystonia (neck spasms), tinnitus and muscle twitching — some of which are recognised side-effects of ciprofloxacin.

‘The reaction started immediately after the first dose: I felt giddiness, back pain and needed to pass urine frequently,’ she says.

‘But it felt just like the kidney infection coming back, so I was prescribed more of the drugs.

‘I’d never felt right since I took those antibiotics but doctors told me there was no connection.

‘After three years of tests and no answers, I went online and discovered there were thousands of other people who had taken ciprofloxacin and had similar side-effects to me.

‘I have lost half my customers as I have balance problems and find it difficult to stand for long periods.

‘I’ve never claimed any disability benefits and always worked to support myself, but what happens if I get worse?

Doctors stress that we must finish a course of antibiotics and don’t mention adverse reactions, so people continue taking the drugs, not realising they are causing them damage.

Philip Howard, consultant pharmacist and a specialist in antibiotics, says although ciprofloxacin has been around for 25 years, it’s only in the past ten years that more side-effects have emerged.

‘When ciprofloxacin was first introduced, it was one of the first broad spectrum antibiotics which could be given as a tablet, so patients didn’t need to stay in hospital.

‘That was a major advantage but also came to be one of its major failings, because it then was over-prescribed.

‘As with all drugs, the rarer side-effects sometimes don’t become apparent until large numbers of people have been treated with them.’

He says there are few reasons why ciprofloxacin should still be prescribed by a GP except where there is no alternative, such as where the patient has an allergy to penicillin or where other antibiotics haven’t worked.

‘There is this assumption that antibiotics have no side-effects, but all drugs carry risks. I’d say that unless you need treatment, don’t take them.’

Neal Patel, pharmacist with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, says serious side-effects from antibiotics are rare, but patients should be aware of the risks.

‘If patients notice anything untoward while taking antibiotics they should seek advice from their GP or pharmacist as soon as possible.’

A spokesman for Bayer, manufacturer of ciprofloxacin, said the drug has been used in millions of patients worldwide and has a well-established safety profile.

It added: ‘The product information includes information about tendinitis and tendon rupture, which are recognised but very rare adverse drug reactions.’

Judy Thomas, though, remains convinced ciprofloxacin is the most likely explanation for her ruptured Achilles tendon and pins and needles.

‘I feel very strongly that there should be more prominent warnings on patient information leaflets,’ she says.

‘Antibiotics are something that all of us take without thinking, but we all need to be aware that they have risks as well as benefits.’

———————————————————————————————————-

If you have recently had a bout of antibiotics, it is a good idea to re-line your gut with probiotics. Antibiotics kill off the good bacteria in your gut and they do not recover without assistance. An imbalance in your gut could cause digestive problems later on. For good quality probiotics that will do the trick click here!

Obesity, what is it and how can you tell you have it…

Obesity is when your body is over weight and has excess fat to the extent that it is harmful creating a negative and sometimes dangerous effect on your health and wellbeing. It is measured by the BMI (Body Mass Index) which measures whether you are a healthy weight for your height.

The most common reason a person can become overweight or obese is eating more calories than one is using up, however, that is not the entire story.

Life is fast these days. We find ourselves buying ready meals, or ordering in food, or buying the easiest and cheapest foods available. The trouble with this is that there are so many additives in those foods designed to ensure that we want to eat more and more, and more of the same thing; they are addictive in other words. As well as this though, these foods are full of fats, sugars and salts, create insulin shock and creating the need by the body (due to rapid drops in blood sugar) to eat the quick-fix refined foods; and so the calories pile in.

When you are over weight or obese, it is more and more difficult to get up and do the exercise that your body needs and so whilst you are eating loads of calories, you become less inclined to exercise your body.

With our lifestyle changing and so many ‘convenience foods’ the number of people becoming overweight and obese has pretty much tripled since 1980. Seven out of 10 men are now overweight or obese, and six out of 10 women are overweight or obese. These foods are also nutritionally deficient and alter the natural course of the body (Read our blog on the effects of refined foods on the body: http://gandgvitamins.wordpress.com/2011/07/13/blood-sugar-fat-and-lack-of-energy/ )

Being overweight or obese opens up a number of health problems for us, some of which are very serious: type two diabetes, high blood pressure, aching joints and osteoarthritis, coronary heart disease, sleeping problems, back pain, breathlessness and some types of cancer as well as gall bladder problems.

We also suffer from low self esteem, low expectations and lack of purpose in life, we can feel less worthy, embarrassed, weak… in truth, we just feel low and it is hard to believe that all of this can be caused by the foods being thrown at us from all angles every day and everywhere we go! It’s like putting the wrong petrol in the wrong engine – it may well putter along, but it won’t do the engine any good and eventually it will breakdown altogether.

Who would benefit from our being overweight or obese and addicted to these foods? The answer is easy – the food industry. Why? Because the additives in the foods we eat encourage us to eat more and more. Some of these additives are addictive! Trying to stop eating them is like trying to stop smoking! And because if they can get us addicted to their foods then we will keep on buying them and they will keep making millions – at our expense and in some cases, perhaps even our life!

And it’s not just us adults! What about our kids?

Over weight and obesity in children can be avoided if we start when they are very young.

The trouble is, we eat the ‘convenient foods, comfort foods and treats’; and feed the same to our kids (and they are just as addictive to them) – so why would we expect anything other than our children becoming overweight?

And as well as creating overweight children, some of these additives are thought to create behavioural problems in children, when all that may be needed is a simple change in diet. It has been found that many children struggling with behaviour are deficient in selenium, calcium and zinc. Ensuring that they get foods rich in these minerals is essential and much less harmful to them than the drugs foisted on us by the pharmaceutical and psychiatric industries, who are actually make millions out of us every year doing just that! Ritalin for example carries a ‘black box warning’ in the USA; “The drugs, which include GlaxoSmithKline Plc’s Dexedrine and Novartis AG’s Ritalin, must include a warning about the possible risk of sudden death and serious heart problems, Food and Drug Administration spokeswoman Susan Bro told Reuters“.(from article in Daily Mail). Ritalin – also known as ‘Kiddy Cocaine’ should not be the first port of call – rather a good healthy diet and exercise.

Like us, the more overweight the child becomes, the less he/she will want to exercise – after all, who wants to set themselves up as the butt of jokes by bullies at school. But we put kids in this position because they are not in control of the food that is put down to them or brought in to the house. So it is up to us to make sure that changes! They trust us to take care of their health and wellbeing and we can start right now!

Prevention better than cure…

We’ve heard it said that prevention is better than cure and that is true; it is better to ensure that your diet is healthy and containing all the nutrients that you and your child’s body needs.

Next week, I will be blogging about different kinds of foods, diets and the calories they contain and which your body needs in order to function better which will help you in your quest for a healthy body and losing weight should you wish to do so.

Think you’re bloated by IBS? It could just be Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth – and it’s easier to manage!

Article in Daily Mail by Patrick Sturdwick.

Patrick Strudwick was told he had IBS but turns out it was SIBO

For ten years I looked pregnant. Between 1997 and 2007 my bloated belly peered over my waistband as I tried to hold it in. I wasn’t overweight or malnourished. Instead, doctor after doctor gave me the same diagnosis: irritable bowel syndrome.

About one in ten people have – or think they have – this horrible condition. Its chief symptoms, apart from bloating, are constipation and diarrhoea, with pain, fatigue and sometimes depression joining in.

It is hardly taboo – several celebrities have revealed they suffer from IBS: actress Kirsten Dunst and model Tyra Banks to name a few. But are we being told the truth? Do we all really have IBS?

Four years ago, I began to suspect not. All my symptoms had intensified, in particular the pain. I tried cutting out some of the known triggers: wheat, alcohol and cheese. I tried yoga and meditation – stress is thought to worsen the condition. But still I looked pregnant, and I grew suspicious something else was wrong. Desperate and fed up, I went to my GP and begged to be referred to a gastroenterologist.

He prodded at my protruding belly in search of cysts or tumours. He asked about my symptoms and how long I had suffered from them. He ran blood and urine tests to check for diabetes or signs of various cancers. Crucially, he took me seriously.

Having eliminated the most serious possible causes, he referred me for two tests at London’s St. Thomas’ Hospital: one for lactose intolerance and one for something called Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).

The first test involved drinking a sugar solution and every 15 minutes for three hours breathing into a tube to measure the hydrogen levels in my breath. The second was the same except I drank a lactulose solution – a type of glucose also used as a laxative.

The first test – which was looking for a lactose (milk sugar) intolerance – came back negative, but the other, for SIBO, was positive. I had never heard of it. So back at home, I plundered Google in search of answers. The same symptoms kept coming up as for IBS: constipation, diarrhoea, bloating, pain and fatigue. Why had none of the doctors I had seen ever mentioned this condition?

‘Most GPs have never heard of it,’ explains Dr Ian Penman, a consultant gastroenterologist at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital.

Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth makes men look as though they are pregnant – a problem Patrick suffered with for 10 years

So what is it? And how many other IBS sufferers could in fact have SIBO? ‘SIBO is a condition whereby the small intestine, which normally has very few bacteria in it, becomes colonised with too many bacteria. In healthy people, stomach acid and the waves of muscular contraction in the small intestine flush most bacteria into the bowel. But with SIBO that doesn’t happen.’

Why? Mostly, Dr Penman says, it is because of four different types of underlying conditions. The first is when stomach acid is not produced because of gastric surgery, such as a bypass, or old age.

Another vulnerable group is people who’ve had multiple operations on their intestines with parts cut out or joined together, such as those with Crohn’s disease. Thirdly there are people who have other gut disorders. And, finally, people who have had multiple courses of antibiotics.

A huge proportion of those who think they have IBS actually suffer from SIBO.

‘People with recurrent chest or urinary infections may have had lots of antibiotics,’ says Dr Penman. ‘This can upset the delicate ecosystem in the bowel – the balance of different types of bacteria – which then allows certain bacteria groups to proliferate.’

In my early 20s I had a succession of antibiotics for tonsillitis – eventually they were removed – which may explain my diagnosis. But, says Dr Penman, there are also those who do not fall into any of these categories who think they have IBS but test positive for SIBO, with none of the underlying factors.

‘We get into the area of could SIBO be the cause of IBS?’ he says. ‘The answer is that it is unclear. It’s difficult to tease out – the causes of IBS are multi-factorial: stress, food intolerances, and in some cases, bacterial overgrowth.’

A 2005 study published in the journal of Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics found a staggering link between the condition: 98 IBS sufferers were given the hydrogen breath test for SIBO and 64 tested positive. This suggests a huge proportion of those who think they have IBS actually suffer from SIBO.

However, Dr Penman points out: ‘A more recent study found that some people with IBS give false positive results for the SIBO breath test. The reason is that what they really have wrong with them is the time it takes for stuff to go from the stomach to the bowel is too fast. So when we give them lactulose for the breath test, it reaches the bowel too quickly, which causes them to excrete hydrogen in their breath, so we get a positive result. My estimate would be that in fact no more than 10 per cent of IBS sufferers actually have SIBO.’

But if ten percent of Britons have IBS and even five percent of those in fact have SIBO, that would mean 300,000 people with a chronic undiagnosed intestinal disorder.

There is no cure. Instead, the condition is managed. If it is not it can lead to vitamins such as B12 and folic acid not being absorbed by the body. This can cause infertility, depression, and chronic fatigue. What then is the treatment?

‘Firstly, we look for any underlying case – are they making no acid, do they have Crohn’s or have they had surgery?’ Says Dr Penman. ‘If we can treat those factors we will. But otherwise the treatment is cyclical courses of antibiotics to reduce the number of bacteria in the small intestine.

‘We rotate several different antibiotics one after the other to try and prevent resistance or side effects. Another strategy would be four weeks on antibiotics and then four weeks off.’

A change in diet is also essential. ‘I recommend small, frequent meals, making sure you get a good intake of vitamins, and a reduction in intake of carbohydrates.’

Dr Penman advises SIBO patients to take a multi-vitamin supplement [*] and peppermint capsules to help with bloating. ‘I’m also a fan of pro-biotics [*],’ he says. ‘Not so much the yoghurt-y drinks from the supermarket but a dried formulation of acidophilus from a pharmacy.’

The treatment works. After a few courses of antibiotics my symptoms all but vanished. Concerned about taking them long-term, however, I started taking probiotics instead every day, and only taking antibiotics every year or so. The most potent, and therefore helpful, probiotics [*] I could find are called VSL3, and are available over the internet from this country. I also take vitamins pills and peppermint capsules.

Sticking to the dietary guidelines are not easy when – as I do – you have a problematic cupcake obsession. But, annoyingly, limiting carbohydrates has proved to be the most effective way of managing the condition. Although I give in now and again, cutting out cake, I can report with some sadness, is the only way to avoid looking like I’m in my second trimester.

(NaturalNews) We are in the “Age of Aluminum”, this according to a lecture by Dr. Chris Exley, PhD at a January 2011 vaccine safety conference in Jamaica. A common expression among those who deflect aluminum’s toxicity issues is that aluminum is prominent throughout the earth’s crust. What they fail to mention is that aluminum (Al) wasn’t widely bioavailable to humans until the latter part of the 19th Century when it began to be mined for creating metals and medicines.

Now we have aluminum appearing in cookware, wrapping foils, beverage and food containers, underarm deodorants, tobacco, over the counter (OTC) and prescribed medicines, and as adjuvants in vaccines. Al is highly reactive with other chemicals and creates antigens to stimulate immune system antibody responses in vaccines. But the mechanics of these reactions are not understood by Big Pharma.

Dr. Exley, has been focused on aluminum biochemical mechanics for two decades, and doesn’t claim to know all the answers. But he knows how wrong those who do claim to have all the answers are, and they are among the ranks of Al toxicity danger naysayers and the vaccine industry.

Aluminum body burdens

We all have some level of Al in us with which are bodies are coping. The tissues most prone to collecting and storing aluminum are those tissues with a slow cellular turnover. Cells die off and regenerate quickly on the skin, but not so quickly in bone matter, heart tissue and the brain. Those last three organs that don’t have a rapid cellular turnover are most prone to collecting and storing Al.

Yes, the brain stores quite a of bit Al. And that’s where MS, chronic fatigue syndromes, epilepsy, ADD, Alzheimer’s, Guilliane-Barre’ syndrome (a common post vaccination injury) and other neurological disorders manifest. Aluminum compounds that are injected bypass the liver and kidneys and tend to remain in slow cellular replacing tissues.

Non-ingested Al also includes smoking tobacco or marijuana, applied sunscreens and cosmetics and chemtrails. All vaccinations contain Al. Claiming they’re safe without mercury, as some A1 proponents do, is incorrect. Exley also mentioned that most vaccines contain some iron — iron combined with aluminum creates a highly biochemically-reactive compound.

Chemtrails are not contrails. They are real. All samples collected worldwide contained aluminum and more (http://www.naturalnews.com/032572_chemtrails_health.html).

In the last 100 years, we have managed to increase the Al body burden considerably. The threshold for Al toxicity varies. But the incredible increase in neurological disorders during this “Age of Aluminum” demonstrates the need for eliminating it from our bodies as much as possible.

Easy methods for eliminating Al

Dr. Exley mentions one agent that pushes out stored Al from our bodies: High silica content mineral water. He mentioned two brands, Volvic, which is sold at various Whole Food and Trader Joe stores, and Spritzer, which is harder to find.

He and his team of researchers have tested the urine to prove high silica content mineral waters do the trick. He even presented anecdotal evidence of Gardasil adverse-reaction victims improving after a few months of drinking this type of water. He recommends drinking a liter a day to reduce your aluminum body burden.

But that water’s a little pricey. You can order an inexpensive pound of horsetail herbs and make teas and tinctures to accommodate a less expendable budget. Making tinctures is easy (http://www.naturalnews.com/032298_herbs_tinctures.html). Organic cucumbers are high in silica also and provide yet another alternative.

As long as there pockets of Al stored in our bodies, the potential for passing the threshold of absolute toxicity exists. Reducing the Al burden is vital for optimum health even when you manage to avoid the most common sources.

It is widely believed that the foods we eat these days are loaded with unnecessary additives designed to ensure that you become addicted to the foods. Additives such as MSG or Aspartame. Let’s face it, the only people who gain from this is the food and drink industry and of course the manufacturers of these additives. The more addicted we become to their products, the more we buy and interestingly enough its not the healthy organic fruit and veg and meat they add this stuff to but the crisps, chocolates, biscuits and drinks; refined foods in fact, that also cause blood sugar problems which will lead to accumulation of fat on the body some types of which are toxic.

What is toxic fat?

According to the latest research, it is thought that the fat that is most detrimental to your health is stomach fat also known as visceral fat. The reason visceral fat is so dangerous is that it is toxic. Visceral fat becomes attached to your major organs such as your liver, kidneys and gut and on down to your pelvis and releases toxins in to your blood stream which can make you feel unwell. Conditions such as inflammation of the colon and artery walls as well as diabetes and some types of cancer are thought to be caused by visceral fat toxins. It is also thought that visceral fat may well increase the production of the stress hormone, cortisol, coupled with lowering the levels of the ‘feel-good’ endorphins.

You’ve no doubt heard it said that the only time that we feel happy is when we are eating, and that is not accidental. MSG makes us feel good when we are eating it as and is designed to make us want more. It is a vicious circle of toxins from the visceral fat making you feel bad and the MSG making your feel good!

How to break this circle?

The good news is that the visceral fat is easier to shift than normal subcutaneous fat. Tests have proved that some simple lifestyle and diet changes show a distinct and fast dropping of the visceral fat in a short time, thereby lessening the health risks.

But who has the energy to exercise when one is carrying around so much extra weight?

It is difficult to wean ourselves’ off of refined foods that is true, however 4 – 7 days without refined foods in the diet, can make an incredible difference to one’s energy levels and ability to get around. And pretty soon those fruit and vegetables begin taste wonderful! You may notice how good the body feels when eating the foods that it actually needs – it thrives on! It is also an idea to take a chromium complex supplement to support any dietary changes you are effecting.

Much of the food these days is so lacking in nutrition that deficiencies can occur. It is a good idea to supplement your new nutritious diet with good quality supplements; all of which will support your body whilst you are getting in to your new healthier lifestyle.

In changing to a healthier eating plan, always make sure that you do this sensibly. It is not a good idea to cut out all fats for example. Read our earlier blog what is fat anyway for information on the kids of fats that one should and should not eat. For information on refined foods and how they work against us read our blog on ‘refined foods’

Exercise:

It is not necessary to start off your exercise regime at a million miles an hour. It is far more sustainable and effective to build up to a comfortable regimen such as walking for a short time each day, and building up to walking for one hour per day perhaps – over a number of weeks. Swimming is a fantastic all-round exercise, however, start off with one length of the pool or even half, and build up over time to half an hour or an hour of swimming. You will be surprised at how quickly your energy levels come up and you will feel great!

I sincerely hope that this information is of some help to you and would ask that you share it with someone you think it may help.

I went into the G&G shop in East Grinstead yesterday and bought the Urtekram Rose Conditioner. I washed my hair and used it last night. I must say, I had to use quite a lot of it but what great results! I am really happy with this conditioner, it is the BEST natural conditioner I have ever used, it has a very mild smell and I notice my hair looks great, healthy and shiny and feels lovely and soft, no frizziness or fluffyness and even feels thicker and fuller! I have never found a natural conditioner that works so well and it is very inexpensive. I would recommed it to my friends.
